This weekend, over 30 museums and artistic institutions all over southern California will be offering free admission to the public. Why all this push to draw guests through their doors? Perhaps you have or haven’t heard that Pacific Standard Time is taking over the Southern Californian arts community, and this is not a reference to a time zone or daylight savings time. If you’ve been living as an Angelino these past few months, chances are that you have probably read about this region-wide initiative to chronicle the development of post-war American art in the Los Angeles area. Or at least you’ve seen the distinctive white and magenta clock-like icons on lamppost banners and coffee sleeves, part of PST’s monumental marketing campaign. Either way, you should not miss out on this chance to be a part of a watershed moment in Southern California’s art scene. Local figures such as Anthony Kiedis and Jason Schwartzman are celebrating, so why don’t you too?
