Crystal Antlers formed in January 2006 in Long Beach, California. Creating their own blend of psychedelic, punk, & soul, the band quickly became local favorites among a broad range of rock fans. Jonny Bell (bass, vocals, woodwinds), Andrew King (guitar, organ), Victor Rodriguez (organ), Kevin Stuart (drums), and Damian Edwards (percussion) soon developed a reputation for eccentric live shows and earned comparisons to Comets on Fire and Les Savy Fav. In 2008 the group released their debut EP produced by Ikie Owens (known for his work with the Mars Volta) and noted for its blend of psychedelic, garage rock, and prog rock sounds, followed by their 2009 album “Tentacles,” released on Touch and Go Records.
Chief

Santa Monica-based indie rock outfit Chief formed in the late 2000s around the talents of Evan Koga, Mike Moonves, and brothers Danny and Michael Fujikawa. The band’s predilection for sunny, Beach Boys/Tom Petty-inspired Pacific Ocean roots rock may suggest a West Coast inception, but the California natives’ transition from friends to band took place out east at New York University. The group’s decade-spanning blend of the Band, the Fleet Foxes, Neil Young and Band of Horses eventually found them a home on Domino Records, and upon moving back to California, Chief began putting together their 2010 debut, “Modern Rituals.”
